Life must go on for Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers.
And that's what the veteran quarterback told his teammates after their season-opening rout at the hands of the Patriots on Sunday.
"I said [on Monday], 'Hey guys, look up,'" Roethlisberger said Wednesday, via ESPN. "'The sun's still shining. The sky's still blue. The best thing is we still get to play on Sunday.' It's Week 1."
Added Roethlisberger: "It's not like all of a sudden we have to go back to the drawing board ... It's just, we all need to, starting with myself, play better. It's nothing drastic on anybody's plate. It's just little things here and little things there."
Roethlisberger, who went 27 of 47 for 276 yards and one interception with no touchdowns against the reigning Super Bowl champions, took much of responsibility for the team's 33-3 loss at New England, saying his miscues on calling the proper plays for certain situations is what led to the team's downfall.
But he was adamant that part of the process in correcting mistakes is looking ahead rather than reflecting on who to blame for past problems.
"I don't think about, 'Oh man, did this guy make this play or didn't make that play?' Because to me, we all kind of have a clean slate every week," Roethlisberger said. "That's me included. I threw an interception. I wasn't the most accurate passer. So I'm not thinking about that this week. I'm thinking about moving forward and how to do we get better and how do we make plays."
The Steelers are slated to host the Seahawks for their home opener at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
