Regardless of what the Steelers do in the 2019 NFL Draft, they will be a vastly different team next season, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Star wide receiver Antonio Brown was dealt to the Raiders after a tumultuous offseason. In exchange, the Steelers added third- and fifth-round picks to increase their total number to 10. Also, any glimmer of hope that running back Le'Veon Bell would come back to Pittsburgh after holding out all of last season was shot after he signed with the Jets. The emergence of James Conner at the position should mean the Steelers won't skip a beat, however.

With Brown gone and uncertainty abound beyond JuJu Smith-Schuster on the depth chart, the Steelers will likely target a wide receiver in the early rounds. On the defensive side, cornerback will be prioritized as one of the defensive holes they will look to fill.

The 10 draft picks that the Steelers possess should give them more than enough opportunity to attempt to fill the needs that currently exist as they try to redeem themselves after missing the postseason last year.

Below is everything you need to know about the Steelers' 2019 draft, including when they pick and their biggest team needs. The list below will be updated throughout the draft as Pittsburgh makes its selections.

Steelers' NFL Draft team needs

According to SN's Vinnie Iyer:

  • Wide receiver: Smith-Schuster is ready to become the Steelers' go-to No. 1, but between second-year receiver James Washington and free-agent flyer Donte Moncrief, they do not have a bona fide solution for Brown's vacated outside spot.
  • Inside linebacker: The Steelers have tried to plug the hole in which Ryan Shazier once roamed with two free agents, Jon Bostic last year and Mark Barron this year. They could use an all-around playmaker at the position who can make a greater impact.
  • Cornerback: Stephen Nelson was signed to start opposite Joe Haden, but Haden is hitting 30 in April and is in his contract year.
  • Offensive tackle: The Steelers traded Marcus Gilbert to the Cardinals and could use an upgrade on the right side.
  • Defensive line: The Steelers could use some depth at end with Cameron Heyward turning 30 in May. They also could consider a backup nose with Javon Hargrave unsigned past 2019.
  • Tight end: The team has Vance McDonald as its new top receiver at the position, but it could use more blocking help and a replacement for departed free agent Jesse James.
