Come Feb. 11, someone will get a sweet victory. The question is will it be a repeat of the 2020 Super Bowl when Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to their first title in 50 years, or will the 49ers get their revenge?

The showdown can be watched in its traditional format, or it can be watched on Nickelodeon for the first time.

The network will broadcast a family-friendly version of the big game using iconic characters, like SpongeBob. The network has produced special versions of NFL games before, including a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle edition for Christmas but never for the Super Bowl.

Here's what to know about Nickelodeon's inaugural Super Bowl broadcast.

What is the SpongeBob Super Bowl broadcast?

The Super Bowl is, somehow, getting even bigger and better with the help of Nickelodeon's gamecast.

It will feature the cast of the legendary cartoon, including an animated SpongeBob (voiced by Tom Kenny) and Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke) in the booth alongside CBS Sports's Nate Burleson and Noah Eagle. Sandy (Carolyn Lawrence) will be a sideline reporter and Larry (Mr. Lawrence) will provide live commentary with the help of NFL Slimetime's Dylan Schefter and Young Dylan, who will be at Allegiant Stadium.

The entire telecast won't be under the sea, as Dora the Explorer (Diana Zermeño) and Boots (Asher Colton Spence) will provide penalty explanations, as well.

The fan favorite "Sweet Victory" from SpongeBob finally gets its spotlight nearly five years after the petition began in honor of Stephen Hillenburg.

Nickelodeon's broadcast will include other shenanigans, such as appearances from Plankton and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, slime-filled cannons, and virtual filters.

Why is the NFL doing a SpongeBob Super Bowl broadcast?

The network saw success with its "Nickmas" Game. Before the Christmas Day telecast, "Toy Story Funday Football" brought viewers an animated Falcons vs. Jaguars game from London.

The broadcasts are a chance for the sport to connect with younger audiences in a fun, one-of-a-kind way using familiar characters.
