New England will kick off training camp this week without two of Tom Brady's top targets.
Patriots running back Sony Michel and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas have been placed on PUP to begin camp, according to multiple reports.
Michel underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this offseason but it was reported last month that he was "progressing quickly" and running at "full tilt." He missed all of camp and the first three games of the regular season last year as he dealt with knee issues, but still finished the season with 931 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
As for Thomas, he's recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in Week 16 last season when he was a member of the Texans after compiling 677 receiving yards and five touchdowns through the first 15 games. He was released in February and signed with New England in April, though it remains unknown when he will be medically cleared to resume workouts.
ESPN added that Deatrich Wise, Nate Ebner, Ken Webster and Cole Croston also will be on the PUP list to begin camp.
All rookies reported to Gillette Stadium on Sunday, with veterans scheduled to show up Wednesday.
The Patriots' first practice will be held Thursday.
