The Seattle Seahawks came out of Week 1 with a win, but they didn't get out the building without suffering any significant injuries.
When undefeated rookie head coach Mike Macdonald spoke with reporters on Monday afternoon, he offered a few updates on key injured players from Sunday's game. Here's a quick review of who got hurt and what we know.
RB Ken Walker
You may have noticed that we didn't see much of starting running back Ken Walker after he put his cleat down the throat of Denver's run defense in the third quarter. Zach Charbonnet did well enough in his place in the fourth quarter, but we weren't sure what was going on until after when we learned that Walker hurt his abdomen, which is why he wasn't on the field late in the game. Macdonald told reporters Monday that there's no new information and the team is taking Walker's condition day by day.
If Walker has to miss time Charbonnet is clearly the next man up in the rotation, but there's only one other running back on the roster right now in Kenny McIntosh. If they need another back the Seahawks will either look to sign an outside free agent or more likely promote preseason standout George Holani from the practice squad for added depth.
RT George Fant
The biggest injury of the day happened in the first quarter, when right tackle George Fant limped off the field with a knee injury after playing just 13 snaps. After getting examined on the sidelines, Fant was spotted heading to the locker room with the team doctor. Macdonald told the media that there's also nothing new to report here and Fant is also "day by day."
Stone Forsythe came in to replace Fant, but he didn't perform very well against Denver. The Seahawks have more depth options here, including seventh-round draft pick Mike Jerrell. Starter Abe Lucas is still on the PUP list with his knee issue.
