The Seattle Seahawks are making a change at assistant defensive line coach.
Sources told Sporting News that Dwaine Board will not be returning in 2018.
Board was on his second stint with the Seahawks, having served as the team’s defensive line coach from 2003-08. Board returned as Seattle’s assistant defensive line coach in 2015.
Board spent time coaching with Oakland (2009-10), Cleveland (2011-12) and St. Francis (Calif.) High School (2013-14) between his time with the Seahawks.
Board’s departure is another change for a Seahawks staff that is being overhauled by head coach Pete Carroll. Seattle recently hired Clint Hurtt as its defensive line coach to replace Travis Jones.
Board, 61, was a three-time Super Bowl winner with San Francisco during a 10-year NFL career as a defensive lineman. Per the Seahawks website, Board is one of 20 people to have won a Super Bowl as both a player and coach. He was named the defensive MVP of Super Bowl XIX after registering four tackles and two sacks in San Francisco’s win over Miami.
