Is Sean McVay retiring? Fiancée Veronika Khomyn reveals Rams coach's plans for 2022 image

Rams fans can breathe easy again. It doesn't look like Sean McVay is going to retire from coaching after leading Los Angeles to a Super Bowl victory.

McVay's fiancée Veronika Khomyn posted a picture of her and McVay to her Instagram story on Wednesday night. Included with the picture was a brief statement.

"And no. He is NOT retiring," Khomyn wrote.

McVay, 36, is the youngest head coach in the NFL and has been since he was first hired by the Rams in 2017. As such, many were curious about why McVay would even consider retiring even after his Super Bowl victory.

The speculation stemmed from a rumor, about which McVay was asked before the Super Bowl. He gave a lukewarm answer about his future at that time, which led to the uncertainty surrounding his status.

"I love this so much that it's such a passion, but I also know that . . . I'm going to be married this summer, I want to have a family and I think being able to find that balance but also be able to give the time necessary," McVay said, per ESPN. "I have always had a dream about being able to be a father and I can't predict the future, you know? I jokingly say that."

"I don't really know. I know I love football and I'm so invested in this thing and I'm in the moment right now. But at some point, too, if you said what do you want to be able to do? I want to be able to have a family and I want to be able to spend time with them."

Despite that response, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that McVay told him he would return in 2022 on Super Bowl Sunday. And McVay himself was chanting "run it back" during Los Angeles' Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, further indicating that he was planning to return.

Now, Khomyn has effectively confirmed that the Rams will not have to find a new head coach in 2022. Instead, the team will just have to replace offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell, who left to coach the Vikings, and a few other assistants on their staff.
