Sunday's wild-card playoff game between the Seahawks and Vikings in Minnesota is already being hailed as one of the coldest games in NFL history. Game-time temperatures are expected in the low single digits, and the wind chill factor will be well below zero.

How do you prepare for polar conditions like that? If you're Seahawks placekicker Steven Hauschka, you practice like you play and freeze your footballs before kicking them.

Note the temperature setting at 4 degrees Fahrenheit on the thermostat at right. That can't feel good against your foot at full speed.

There's some good news for Hauschka and the rest of the players, fans and everyone else who will be at the frigid game. The weather forecast is now calling for a high of 5 or possibly 6 degrees, up from 0 degrees in an earlier forecast.
