"Thursday Night Football" in Week 6 will feature a pair of throwback looks for each of the two teams.

It will be two NFC West opponents facing off, as the 49ers and Seahawks each look to bounce back from losses with a divisional win.

While the 49ers will be wearing their white throwback uniforms, the Seahawks will have a more unique and vibrant look, rocking bright blue jerseys and silver helmets for their throwback uniforms.

Here's what to know about Seattle's throwback look on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 6.

Seahawks throwback uniforms, explained

The Seahawks' throwback uniforms are a callback to their 1990s look, which features blue jerseys with silver helmets and pants.

While the team has worn the uniforms before after bringing them back in 2023, it announced earlier this week that players would be sporting the throwback look at home in Week 6.

Seattle first announced the new uniforms in a unique fashion, featuring a '90s-style website (throwback.seahawks.com) that explains the designs and history behind the jerseys and helmets.

"A pop culture revolution took off in the Seattle region in the '90s, stormed the nation’s music scene, forever transformed the world’s technology landscape, and changed our relationship with coffee," the website says. "Players and fans, both old and new, have been clamoring for the classic Seahawks uniforms for years. With the passing of a 2021 resolution allowing teams to wear alternate helmets for the first time, the process began to bring back the iconic silver helmets and royal blue uniforms for the 12s."

Have the Seahawks worn blue throwback uniforms before?

Since announcing their revival in 2023, the Seahawks have worn the blue retro uniforms three times before. The jersey's most recent game appearance came in Week 1 vs. the Broncos.

However, Thursday will mark the first time that Seattle has worn the throwbacks in front of its home crowd at Lumen Field.

1990s Seahawks

The Seahawks played their first season as an NFL franchise in 1976. By the 1990s, they didn't have much team success, and they only had two winning seasons in the decade (1990 and 1999).

Even with the franchise still looking to build its culture and roster into a consistent playoff contender though, they had a unique style that fit Seattle well and made its return in the 2020s.

Here's a look at Seattle's year-by-year record in the 1990s, making the playoffs just once in 1999.
