Eagles general manager Howie Roseman and Vikings GM Rick Spielman pulled off one of the biggest trades of the NFL season and explained how everything went down to MMQB's Peter King.
Roseman gave up his starting quarterback — Sam Bradford — and received a first-round draft pick, as well as a conditional fourth-round pick. That fourth-rounder turns into a third-round pick if Minnesota makes the playoffs, and a second-round pick if the Vikings make the Super Bowl. A first and a second would be an impressive haul, and it's not something Roseman expected to get from Spielman.
"When we talked [earlier Thursday], I said to Rick, ‘Rick, this is going to be a premium.’ It had to include their first-round pick in 2017, plus something else. I didn’t think they’d consider that. We talked about it, but I wasn’t thinking it was very serious," Roseman told MMQB.

The trade surprised the NFL community as most believed the Vikings gave up too much considering Bradford's history. One unidentified NFL exec said to CBS Sports, "I cannot believe [Roseman] got a 1 for Bradford. I really can't."

While others seem pessimistic about the trade, Spielman is confident. He believes the running game with Adrian Peterson will help Bradford succeed and lead the Vikings to where they want to go. He also noted the second year of Bradford's contract, which is important, because it shows they're worried about Teddy Bridgewater's future health.
"What really was significant for us was the second year of the contract with Sam. No one knows how long it’s going to take Teddy to recover," Spielman said.
