Ryan Tannehill injury update: Titans QB returns after being carted off with ankle injury vs. Chargers image

The injury bug has once again bitten Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who exited Sunday's game vs. the Chargers after just one drive in Los Angeles.

Tannehill was injured on a third-and-13 scramble in which his right ankle — which he sprained earlier in the year — was rolled by linebacker Khalil Mack. He immediately rolled onto his back in pain before leaving the field.

Tannehill eventually made his way to the sideline, where he briefly entered the medical tent. He later was seen getting carted off the field toward the locker room:

Tannehill will miss at least some action from Sunday's game, if he returns at all. Tennessee lists the quarterback as 'questionable' to return. Backup Malik Willis entered the game for the Titans' second drive.

If Tannehill is unable to return, the Titans will go with backup Malik Willis. The rookie signal-caller had a two-game stint as starter for Tennessee in Weeks 8 and 9, also in replacement of Tannehill. The latter previously had a sprained ankle, suffered late in the Week 7 game vs. the Colts.

Willis completed 11 of 31 passes in that two-game stretch for a combined 135 yards. He also threw an interception, rushing six times for 38 yards. Tennessee went 1-1 in thos games, beating Houston 17-10 and losing 20-17 to the Chiefs the following week.
