The life of an NFL player is sometimes unfair and today, we have the most recent example of that unfortunate fact. According to multiple reports, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Rondale Moore suffered a non-contact knee injury during the joint practice between the Falcons and the Miami Dolphins. Moore has since been taken to a local Miami hospital to evaluate the extent of the injury, but initial reports don't hold much optimism. The teams agreed to cancel the rest of the practice and allow the rest of the rosters to rest before their preseason game this Friday, August 9th at 7 p.m. EST.
Moore was looking for a breath of fresh air, a new environment to grow and learn in after a disappointing first three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. While Moore hadn't started his camp off to the hottest start, there were enough flashes where a strong preseason could vault him to getting opportunities in the offense.
Instead, Moore is likely done for the season and the Falcons will be forced to utilize rookie Casey Washington or newcomer James Washington in the reserve WR3 role for receiver Ray-Ray McCloud.
It's an unfair reality for a player with the explosiveness and speed that Moore possesses, but it is a reality nonetheless. We are wishing for a speedy recovery and pray that Moore can get back to the game he loves as soon as possible.
