Robert Griffin III said he reached out to Josh Gordon after the wide receiver's reinstatement bid was denied by the NFL. The new Browns quarterback hopes Gordon will spin something positive out of his situation and know people are cheering him on.
"Josh is family, so I've had contact with Josh since the announcement and he knows, I'm sure he'll see this or watch this, he knows I'm always there for him no matter what happens, but I'm rooting for him,'' Griffin said, via Cleveland.com. "I hope he understands the situation that he's in and what's at stake and I think he does, but it's up to him ultimately to make that decision. You cannot tell a grown man what to do.''
Gordon reportedly failed a drug test in March while the NFL was reviewing his reinstatement application. He can reapply for reinstatement Aug. 1.
The Browns receiver has also made headlines for his partying antics. Most recently, he was linked to Johnny Manziel for allegedly trashing a rented house from several parties.

Griffin and Gordon played together at Baylor. Even though Griffin hopes he turns his life around, he said Gordon can only do that for himself.
"All you can do is be there for him and try to help guide him," Griffin said, "so I've been there for him, will continue to be there for him, and I hope he makes the right decisions so he can get back in the league and show everybody what he's really made of."
