Rob Ryan's tenure as defensive coordinator in New Orleans is over.
The Saints are moving on from Ryan after another awful defensive performance Sunday. Coach Sean Payton announced Monday night that Ryan had been fired and that senior assistant Dennis Allen would take Ryan's place.

Fox Sports reported earlier Monday that Ryan would be dismissed.
New Orleans' pass defense has become a laughingstock in the NFL. Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins finished with a career-best four passing touchdowns Sunday. The week before, Titans rookie QB Marcus Mariota put up his best game with 371 yards and four touchdowns.
In Week 8, Eli Manning had 350 yards and six touchdowns. If you're keeping track, that's 14 passing touchdowns allowed by the Saints in their last three games. They're on pace to give up the second-most yards in NFL history (424.7 per game).
When asked about Ryan's job security after his team's loss Sunday, Payton didn't exactly endorse his coordinator.
"We're sitting here after a game, and we're not going to discuss any of those type of changes, certainly not right now," he said. "Listen, it's obviously a concern. It's hard to win."
Ryan, the twin brother of Bills coach Rex Ryan, was hired by New Orleans in 2013. He previously held the same position with the Cowboys, Browns and Raiders.
Allen, 42, is in the first season of his second stint with the Saints. He was a defensive assistant under Payton from 2006-10, moving up to secondary coach for the final three years of his tenure. He left New Orleans in 2011 to become the Broncos' defensive coordinator. The next year, the Raiders hired him to be their head coach. Oakland fired him last year after the team started its season 0-4. He was 8-28 overall with the Raiders.
Allen rejoined Payton's staff in January.
