The Seattle Seahawks have put together what is by far their best cornerback room since franchise legend Richard Sherman was in his prime. While Sherman had two all-time greats backing him up at safety they never really found him a partner in crime for the other boundary position.
The dynamic is different for this current Seahawks secondary, where they have two potential superstars at corner. Devon Witherspoon has some gremlin in his game that makes us believe he has All-Pro potential. However, thanks to his remarkable athletic profile, Riq Woolen still has a higher ceiling - and that's really saying something.
Sherman has worked as a part-time consultant for the Seahawks in recent years, specifically working a lot with Woolen - who comes in the same-sized package but is much, much faster than Sherman ever was in the open field. It sounds like Sherman loves the progress Woolen is making. Here's what he shared about this great rep vs. star receiver Calvin Ridley at yesterday's joint practice with the Tennessee Titans.
Great Rep from @_Tariqwoolen! Boy when your FAST you can be more patient through the 10-18 yard transitional phase of the route. He looks so much more confident and locked in. Love to see it https://t.co/Rp1syhMUG4

The Seahawks will practice against the Titans again later today, then they'll play them in another preseason game on Saturday evening. Seattle's starters are not expected to go, though.
Once the regular season begins, Woolen is projected to start on the right boundary, with Tre Brown on the left side and Spoon in the slot full-time where he belongs.
