The disrespect.
It's no secret that the Packers may not have given reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers as much help as he could probably use in his
Appearing on ESPN's "First Take," Sherman weighed in on the Rodgers-Packers schism/chasm/rift (we're running out of words to describe it), saying that the Packers have "disrespected" Rodgers "for a while."
TIMELINE: Where did the Rodgers-Packers relationship go wrong?
He’s got probably one of the best wide receivers in football, and will be for a long time, in Davante Adams, and they don't give him much else outside of that. They got a running game, they got great running backs, but outside of that, he’s looking for a true No. 2 receiver, and he's done it with whatever they've given him, but it’s not like you’ve seen, hey man, the Packers have taken two first-round receivers and two first-round O-linemen and they’re really trying to get A-Rod what he needs. Or they’ve taken a huge free agency signing and gave him somebody else special.
Sherman says that Rodgers likely isn't as "irked" about the lack of an all-world supporting cast as people think, but the Packers drafting Love was a clear sign of disrespect when the quarterback was still productive.
Rodgers' main reported issues seem to be the team's drafting of Love, his contract and his dislike of GM Brian Gutekunst, leaving many to believe he has, in fact, played his last snap with the Packers after losing out in the NFC championship game.
Disrespect or not, the end appears to be in sight for the Rodgers-Packers partnership.
