Despite having not played in an NFL game since 2013, Rex Grossman is getting another shot.

After spending the 2012 and 2013 seasons on the Redskins' bench and being cut by the Browns at the start of the 2014 season, Grossman is now being looked at by the Falcons. Coach Dan Quinn confirmed the team hosted a workout and physical for the quarterback in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Grossman has a good relationship with the Falcons' new offensive coordinator, Kyle Shanahan. The two worked together while Shanahan was offensive coordinator for the Redskins (2010-13) and Browns (2014).

Shanahan shared his thoughts on Grossman in June with ESPN’s Vaughn McClure.

"I loved Rex (Grossman) because he was so tough,” Shanahan said. “Rex would hang in there, get the crap knocked out of him every week. He never flinched. He'd hang in there and take all the hits. He didn't mind the pressure on him. He'd let it sling every time.”

With Matt Ryan as the Falcons’ starter, Grossman would likely be competing with T.J. Yates and Sean Renfree for the backup spot if he’s signed.
