According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk may be on the move later rather than sooner.

Schefter says that the San Francisco 49ers are in no rush to finish a trade and have no incentive to make one happen.

There are two major hurdles for any team trying to secure the services of the talented wideout; putting together a package that satisfies the 49ers, and signing Aiyuk to a lucrative long-term contract extension.

It’s a delicate dance that requires all three parties to agree and that doesn’t seem to be something on any of the sides of this potential triangle is close to.

"So I think when you step back and assess the situation, a lot of people around the league believe that the 49ers are not going to be in any rush here to make a move, despite the fact that everybody's waiting for an update, waiting to see when and if Brandon Aiyuk will be traded," Schefter said. "He might be, and he might be soon, but they are not rushing into anything right now.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and New England Patriots have all been linked to trade discussions for the 25-year-old receiver.

Earlier this week 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed reports that the team had given Aiyuk’s agent permission to seek out possible trade destinations and discuss contract terms. However, with the 49ers position as the favorties in the NFC, he is unwilling to rule out the possibility of Aiyuk playing out the season in San Francisco.

"There's a scenario for everything,” Shanahan said, “so I wouldn't rule anything out.”
