History was made on Monday night in New Orleans.
With a 62-yard touchdown strike to Tre’Quan Smith in the second quarter, Drew Brees became the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards. He leapfrogged both Brett Favre and the previous leader, Peyton Manning, on the all-time list. Brees’ dominant performance on Monday night led the charge in the Saints (4-1) 43-19 throttling of the Redskins (2-2).

Brees finished the night 26-of-29 for 363 yards and three touchdowns while avoiding any turnovers. He is now one touchdown pass shy of 500 for his career.
The Saints scored a touchdown on their first four drives and led by 20 at halftime. In his return from a 4-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, Mark Ingram ran for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
Washington quarterback Alex Smith threw for 275 yards and turned the ball over twice. The Redskins struggled on the ground, running for only 39 yards as a team.
With the win, New Orleans stays in first place in the NFC South, while the Redskins also remain atop the struggling NFC East.
The Saints have a bye next week and then will travel to Baltimore for a bout with the Ravens, while the Redskins host the Panthers.
