That didn't last long.
The Redskins' lone win of the season to snap a five-game skid was spoiled Sunday as Washington was shut out, 9-0, by the 49ers. Still, interim coach Bill Callahan isn't looking to make any major offensive changes entering a short week with a Thursday matchup at Minnesota.
That means rookie quarterback and 2019 No. 15 overall pick Dwayne Haskins will continue to observe from the bench as Case Keenum starts.
"Dwayne's still learning," Callahan said, per ESPN. "He'd be the first to tell you that."
Haskins completed 9 of 17 passes for 108 yards with three interceptions during the one game he played in this season.
Meanwhile, Case Keenum threw for a measly 77 yards in wet conditions against San Francisco in Week 7 as 49ers kicker Robbie Gould provided the only offense of the game with his three field goals.
"We still have a lot of faith in Case and his ability to manage this offense and run this offense and execute everything within it," Callahan told reporters, via NBC Sports.
I was told after the #Redskins loss yesterday that the team was not going to be rushed into starting Dwayne Haskins by the media, that they drafted him w/ the long view in mind & it can't get caught up in how other teams are handling rookie QBs: "It'll happen when it happens."
