Ravens safety Earl Thomas knocked out Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph in Week 5 after a major hit. Thomas now says he's been fined for the action.

Thomas told ESPN that he was fined $21,000 for his hit on Rudolph, though Thomas plans to appeal the fine.

Rudolph's status for the Steelers' game against the Chargers on Sunday is unclear as the Oklahoma State product is still in concussion protocol.

Thomas says Rudolph hasn't responded to his attempts at contacting him this week.

"I wanted to him to know that I didn't do it on purpose," Thomas said (via ESPN). "That's all I wanted him to know."

The Ravens (3-2) host the Bengals (0-5) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, while the Steelers (1-4) travel to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers (2-3) at 8:20 p.m. ET.
