Second-year defensive end Randy Gregory isn’t just suspended from playing on Sundays with the Dallas Cowboys, he can’t even step on the practice field.
Gregory is serving a suspension that runs through Week 15. However, he applied for a two-week practice exemption in hopes of getting up to speed before his return.

The NFL promptly denied Gregory’s request.
A second-round draft pick from Nebraska a year ago, Gregory was initially suspended for the first four weeks of the season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. But another violation tacked on an extra 10 games in late September.
The Cowboys have surged to an 11-1 record this season, but their pass rush is lacking with just 23 sacks. Gregory could certainly help there, but it won’t be until Week 16 against the Detroit Lions at the earliest.
