The Los Angeles Rams have been a hotbed of superstar talent over the last several seasons under Sean McVay. Each year, they are constantly in contention and boast some of the best players in the league. At least, that was a common thought...until recently.
Pete Prisco at CBS Sports unveiled his Top-100 players in the NFL list, and only one Ram made the entire list...and it might not be who you expect. You might have guessed QB Matthew Stafford, who is undoubtedly one of the best QBs in the NFL. You'd be wrong. Your next guess might be Cooper Kupp, the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year and former Super Bowl MVP. That would also be incorrect. Maybe Kobie Turner, who posted 12 sacks as a rookie? Also not it. What about Kyren Williams, who finished third in the NFL in rushing yards last season? Nope, not it.
In a puzzling decision, Puka Nacua was the only Ram who made the list. That's it. Worse still, Nacua landed at 66th on the entire list, just behind...Tua Tagovailoa.
"He surprised a lot of people with his impressive rookie season, catching 105 passes with six touchdowns. He averaged 14.2 yards per catch, disputing the notion that he isn't a big-play receiver."
With some truly hard-hitting analysis, Prisco justified Nacua's placement (not really). I'm not really sure anyone who has watched football would accuse Nacua of not being a big-play receiver but alas. The other Rams players all landed in the "honorable mention" category.
What a dreadful list. I mean really, Brock Purdy over Stafford? Let's be serious.
