Each offseason, the Rams release a video series called “Behind The Grind” that takes fans behind the scenes of the team through offseason workouts, the draft, and summer camps. It’s a fascinating peek inside the organization, giving fans access that usually they can’t find anywhere else.
That’s especially true in Episode 2, which was all about the draft. The episode was released this week and there were several interesting draft nuggets throughout.
In the video, James Gladstone, the Rams' Director of Scouting, told General Manager Les Snead and Head Coach Sean McVay that the Rams came away with four of the top 50 players on their board with their first four picks.
"Verse, Kinchens, Fiske, and then we got Corum, you’d be walking away with four players in the top 50 of our overall." Gladstone exclaimed.
Now, teams do say things like this in cliches during post-draft press conferences, but this wasn't the same situation. This was right after the picks were made right in the draft room.
The Rams got quite the draft haul with Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Blake Corum, and Kamren Kinchens. That's not even counting their Day 3 selections of players like Brennan Jackson, Joshua Karty, Tyler Davis, and Jordan Whittington either.
