Last year, Travis Hunter made waves as one of the best players in college football as a two-way player, playing both wide receiver and cornerback. Hunter was productive at both spots last year for the Colorado Buffaloes, and his playmaking saw him named a Consensus All-American, the winner of the Paul Hornung Award, and a cover athlete for the new CFB25 video game.
In Doug Farrar’s latest 2025 mock draft for Touchdown Wire, the Rams land Hunter in Round 1 at No. 15 overall. Farrar did not provide any analysis, so I'll do it here.
This would be arguably the biggest home run pick the Rams have made since Aaron Donald. Hunter plays both cornerback and wide receiver, two positions the Rams have long-term questions at, but his film at corner is transcendent.
Hunter would be the Rams' next version of Jalen Ramsey. That is the caliber of playmaker we are talking about here. He has the size and athleticism to match with every caliber of receiver in the NFL, with tremendous instincts and awareness in coverage to become a top-flight playmaker immediately.
As an added bonus, Hunter also has plenty of experience as a returner, a position the Rams are still searching for clarity at.
For the Rams, Hunter would fill in that STAR role that Ramsey held down, while also having the versatility to line up outside. While his film isn't nearly as good at wide receiver as it is at cornerback, I'm sure McVay could create some designed touches for him to capitalize on his playmaking ability. This would be a home-run, grand slam, no-brainer kind of pick.
