Remaining NFL free agents Raiders should consider signing

With less than three weeks to go until the 2024 NFL draft, which begins on April 25, the Las Vegas Raiders still have needs to address on both sides of the ball. Among the biggest ones are right guard, right tackle and cornerback.

Thankfully, there are still some free agents out there who could help the Raiders take care of those needs so they don't have to fully rely on the draft later this month, which is always a risky proposition — and that's especially true for a team like the Raiders that has playoff aspirations.

Here's a look at two specific veteran players who remain on the open market that fit the bill for what the Raiders need.

OL Andrus Peat

The Raiders have needs at right guard and right tackle, but they will likely address at least one of those positions at some point in the draft, with the latter spot being more likely considering how deep it is in this year's class.

Peat has played both left tackle and left guard during his career but should be able to slide over to the right side and take on whichever position the Raiders don't fill later this month.

In 476 pass-block snaps last season (715 total snaps at left tackle), Peat surrendered two sacks and 30 pressures while posting a PFF run-block grade of 62.1.

CB Stephon Gilmore

If the Raiders do what many expect them to and go with some combo of right tackle and quarterback in the first two rounds, their chances of landing a Year 1 starter at cornerback will decrease.

Gilmore would be a perfect stopgap option. He's getting long in the tooth (34 in September), but Gilmore showed he still has something left in the tank after giving up a completion rate of 54.9% and a passer rating of 83.3 in coverage last season.

With Gilmore in tow, the Raiders would have Jack Jones starting opposite him and Nate Hobbs in the slot, giving them a much better situation than they currently have. Not to mention, if they do draft a cornerback at any point, said player will have time to develop.
