It's been an eventful few days for the Raiders at the quarterback position.

Oakland announced Monday that it is placing Nathan Peterman on the injured reserve due to an elbow injury, allowing Mike Glennon and DeShone Kizer to slide in as Derek Carr's backups.

Peterman received praise from head coach Jon Gruden during the preseason, completing 60 of his 84 passes for 475 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in Oakland's four exhibitions.

Coming over from Buffalo in the offseason, Peterman appeared to be putting together some positive momentum in his new home. Peterman struggled mightily with the Bills, logging a combined three touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 32.5 quarterback rating over the past two regular seasons.

Glennon will serve as Carr's backup, his fourth team in as many years. The 29-year-old began his career with Tampa Bay before signing with Chicago in 2017, moving over to Arizona last year and now arriving in Oakland. Glennon has posted 35 touchdowns and 20 interceptions over five seasons.

Kizer, formerly of Green Bay, was claimed off waivers by Oakland on Sunday and is third on the depth chart. The second-round selection of the 2017 draft is already making his third stop after starting 15 games with the Browns his rookie season and appearing three times last year with the Packers. Green Bay released Kizer on Saturday.

Oakland hosts Denver on Sept. 9 on Monday Night Football to open the regular season.
