Rookie running back Dylan Laube has been one of the most pleasant surprises for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason after routinely standing out in practice. And, in the process, he's also picked up a nickname.
Laube recently stole the show at the team's final walkthrough of training camp at Costa Mesa, California, which took place on the beach and served as a form of team bonding. During the session, Laube did a hilarious Maxx Crosby impression that left his teammates in stitches.
When asked about Laube's impression, Crosby had no issue with it but also revealed that the rookie has picked up a nickname: Cheddar Bob.
“I love Cheddar Bob. That’s my guy,” Crosby said of Laube, per Levi Damien of Raiders Wire. “That’s what we call him. That’s Cheddar Bob. From 8 Mile, that’s him. He’s a stud. He’s been doing a great job and anytime he picks one at me, he gets a little pass for now.”
Of course, Cheddar Bob was the loveable character from the movie "8 Mile" and was one of the sidekicks of Eminem's character. He also managed to shoot himself in the leg with his own gun, something we're pretty sure Laube hasn't done in his own life.
Laube is currently trying to carve out a role for himself as a depth option at running back. He recently made his NFL debut in preseason Week 1 and managed to bust off a 13-yard run.
Unfortunately, that was the only highlight of his game, but it wasn't really his fault, as the Raiders' third-team offense and offensive line was absolutely dreadful. Hopefully we'll see more of a Laube with a better unit next time out.
