If the Las Vegas Raiders are ultimately unable to move up for the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft — which they would presumably use on LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels — it won't be for a lack of trying.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Raiders have called the team in possession of the No. 2 overall pick, the Washington Commanders, about a trade up to that spot, and the call came even after Commanders general manager Adam Peters said publicly he expected to stick and pick.
Not surprisingly, the #Raiders are among the teams who tested the #Commanders on moving out of 2, even after Washington GM Adam Peters told the media the team planned to stick and pick, sources say. https://t.co/SgeGbVeGBU

Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Raiders general manager Tom Telesco didn't want to trade up that high because of the expected cost, but clearly he was at least considering it if the call was made.
Nevertheless, it was always expected to be a pipe dream thanks to the fact that the Commanders are in need of a quarterback, and because of the expected competition Las Vegas would likely face in order to move up to No. 2.
The same can be said for the New England Patriots' No. 3 pick. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are also expected to stand pat, which puts to bed another trade-up possibility for the Raiders. It isn't clear if Las Vegas has ever called New England, though.
It remains to be seen if the Raiders would have any interest in trading up to any of the spots after that. That would likely depend on which quarterbacks are on the board. Right now, the speculation is that Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Daniels will all be off the board in the first three picks.
