NFL Network's Brian Baldinger is known for his in-depth film analysis and ability to explain his stances based on the film. In his most recent film analysis, Baldy's Breakdowns, he describes why potential Atlanta Falcons draft target Laitu Latu from UCLA is the best defensive player in the 2024 NFL draft.
.@UCLAFootball @laiatu_latu is the best defensive player in this #NFLDraft2024 and its not close. Can he be the next TJ? #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/O9o2Dn4fqf

Baldinger explains that Latu's versatility across the line of scrimmage, technical skills as a pass rusher and relentless motor make him the best defensive player and how it may not be close. Baldinger went as far as to compare him to four-time All-Pro and former Defensive Player of the Year for the Pittsburgh Steelers, T.J. Watt.
The same Watt that the Falcons passed over in the 2017 NFL draft for UCLA's Takkarist McKinley. According to Baldinger, the Falcons can right that wrong and solidify their pass rush by taking another Bruin.
Latu had to medically retire back in 2021 after suffering a neck injury, leaving his long-term durability in the league as a massive question mark. However, if his medicals check out, the Falcons could potentially take the top defensive player in the draft and finally secure their pass rush which has needed talent since the departure of John Abraham in 2012.
