If the Pittsburgh Steelers' season goes sideways, some major shakeups could be made at the trade deadline.
Among these potential changes is trading star defensive tackle Cameron Heyward, who is entering the final year of his contract. This move truly depends on how the first half of Pittsburgh's season goes, as a successful start eliminates this possibility.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes Heyward could see a change of scenery if the team is not producing wins.
"Heyward may become a more realistic trade target closer to the deadline, depending on his contract status and how Pittsburgh's season unfolds," Knox wrote. "He's worth a mention now, though, because he is seeking a new deal and has yet to receive an extension from the Steelers."
Heyward has been a crucial part of the Steelers' defense for a long time, alongside edge rusher T.J. Watt, but these impactful players haven't helped produced a postseason victory since 2016.
If Pittsburgh's front office is unwilling to pay the 35-year-old his desired contract extension at some point, it makes much more sense to trade him to a Super Bowl contender at the deadline.
Knox suggested the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions as potential suitors for Heyward.
