The biggest question mark for both now and in the future for the Pittsburgh Steelers is no doubt the quarterback position, where the team has a shaky situation currently and after this season.
Pittsburgh chose Russell Wilson as the starter ahead of Week 1, but the veteran hasn't been able to play yet due to a calf injury. Filling in for him is Justin Fields, who, like Wilson, is trying to revive his career with the Steelers and is anything but guaranteed to lock down the job for the long haul.
Another thing these two quarterbacks have in common is the fact that neither one is signed beyond this year, which means the Steelers could be in the market for another quarterback in 2025.
Knowing that, CBS Sports' Chris Trapasso has the Steelers taking Ole Miss signal-caller Jaxson Dart with the No. 14 overall pick in his 2025 NFL mock draft. Here's his thoughts on the selection:
"The Steelers are probably going to need to dip back into the quarterback well in the 2025 draft, and Dart has the big-game experience, plus talent and productivity, to go in Round 1 next April," Trapasso wrote.
The problem with the Steelers' consistency in terms of not registering losing seasons is the fact that they are never in striking distance for one of the top quarterbacks in any given class.
Landing the No. 14 pick means not only will the Steelers not make the playoffs, they'll also be in that no man's land for drafting a signal-caller.
The Ole Miss quarterback is off to a fantastic start to this season and is playing at an elite level. When it comes to Heisman candidates, Dart is up there early on in 2024. Of course, the better he plays, the less likely he's going to be sitting out there in the middle of the first round next year.
