With the 2024 preseason slate in the books, the Pittsburgh Steelers will now turn their attention to trimming their roster down to 53 in the coming days.
The Steelers have until Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 4 p.m. ET to whittle down the roster, but the team will likely begin making moves in the days prior to that. Pittsburgh has several tough decisions to make on both sides of the ball.
As far as the quarterback situation is concerned, head coach Mike Tomlin revealed that the team will not announce its decision until the end of the week, although the expectation all along has been that Russell Wilson will start and Justin Fields will back him up.
"We'll make a decision at the end of our work week this upcoming week," Tomlin said of the decision, per Teresa Varley of Steelers.com. "We got three days of Steelers versus Steelers work. Why not do it then? It kind of minimizes Steelers versus Steelers work when we start making decisions prior to the completion of that.
"We've got ample time to prepare for Atlanta and make whatever decisions or announcements regarding division of labor or pecking orders and so forth. So, we'll do it at the end of the work week."
As the Steelers make moves to get down to 53, we'll be keeping tabs on all of them. Following along with our tracker below for all of the latest updates.
