CBS analyst Phil Simms gets criticism pretty much every week, but the negative feedback came from some of his colleagues Thursday night.
After the Cardinals and 49ers game on Thursday Night Football, which is broadcasted by CBS but also aired on NFL Network, Marshall Faulk and Michael Irvin of NFLN took some time to question what Simms said during the game. Specifically, what he said about Blaine Gabbert.
Some would argue with that, pointing to Gabbert's 38:37 career TD:INT ratio compared to Colin Kaepernick's 56:26 ratio (and that doesn't even count Kaepernick's rushing stats, which are much better). Both quarterbacks entered the league in 2011 and are only seven career starts away from each other, so it's fair to compare their stats equally.

While it's interesting that Irvin and Faulk are willing to speak so candidly about Simms, it's not like this is coming out of nowhere. Social media felt the same way about Simms' evaluation about Gabbert, who the announcer called "the most qualified quarterback for the 49ers."
As for Simms, many were questioning his decision to constantly praise Gabbert throughout the night.

MORE: The worst of the worst Kaepernick takes
Some seemed to think Simms was complimenting Gabbert in an effort to degrade Kaepernick. We're not sure about that, but it was odd to hear him constantly compliment a quarterback who finished 18 of 31 for 162 yards, only one touchdown and two interceptions.
There is now a bigger movement among fans saying Kaepernick should get a chance at the starting job now. Chip Kelly said after the game he wouldn't talk about that right now.
