The free agent told the Bills, who were hoping to re-sign him, that he will not be returning for the 2016 season, ESPN reported.

Injuries plagued Harvin throughout his seven years in the NFL. He suffered from ongoing hip problems, which caused him to miss most of the 2013 season.

Drafted by the Vikings in 2009 out of Florida, Harvin saw his productivity wane after he was placed on injured reserve in 2012 with a bad ankle. He was traded to the Seahawks in 2013, where he suffered a slight labrum tear in his hip during the offseason.

Harvin in the middle of the 2014 season was traded to the Jets but was released in March 2015 after the team acquired Brandon Marshall. He followed Rex Ryan to Buffalo, where he started out hot but was once again placed on injured reserve due to hip and knee injuries.

Harvin originally signed a three-year deal with the Bills, but the final two years were voided to clear salary cap space.

The high point of Harvin's career was in 2011, when he made 87 catches for 967 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
