The Patriots on Tuesday traded defensive end Chandler Jones to the Cardinals for guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round draft pick in a blockbuster deal, ESPN.com reported, citing unidentified sources.

Jones had a stellar 2015 season, recording 12.5 sacks, 44 combined tackles and four forced fumbles. A 2012 first-round pick, he has been a starter since his first season.
The Cardinals, who ranked 20th in the league with just 36 total sacks in 2016, are hopeful the 26-year-old Pro Bowler will be a huge asset for their defense.
Cooper, a first-round pick in 2014, was a part of a tough offensive line in Arizona. Considering the Patriots had a hard time protecting Tom Brady in the AFC championship against the Broncos' top-ranked defense, he should strengthen New England's offensive line.
