Patriots' Sony Michel running at 'full tilt' after knee surgery, report says image

Sony Michel seems to be doing better after surgery.

According to NFL Network's Mike Giardi, who cited multiple unidentified sources, the Patriots' second-year running back is "progressing quickly" from his offseason arthroscopic knee procedure and has been running at "full tilt."

Michel is rumored to be receiving treatment at the TB12 Sports Therapy Center in Foxborough and is spending "considerable time" there, the report noted.

Given the Patriots also have James White, Rex Burkhead and James Develin on the roster and drafted Damien Harris in April, Michel could be in jeopardy of falling down on the depth chart.

Still, all signs point to Michel being fully healthy by the start of the season.

Michel, 24, was selected by New England with the No. 31 pick in the 2018 draft and led the team with 931 rushing yards as a rookie despite missing the final three games of the regular season. He also had six touchdowns and added 50 receiving yards.

He put up another 336 rushing yards and six scores in the postseason en route to the team's Super Bowl 53 win over the Rams.

The Patriots are scheduled to open training camp in mid-July.
