The New England Patriots have put forth a concerted effort to keep a core group of players around for the foreseeable future, re-signing some of their own free agents and extending those who were entering the final years of their contracts.
On Friday, New England did the latter again, as ESPN's Field Yates reported that team and safety Jabrill Peppers have agreed to a three-year extension worth $24 million (max of $30 million).
Peppers, 28, was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft out of Michigan. After two years in Cleveland, he was traded to the New York Giants.
At the conclusion of his rookie deal, Peppers signed a one-year deal with New England and re-upped on a two-year contract last year.
In his 32 games with the Patriots, he's recorded 138 tackles (seven for a loss), eight passes defensed, two interceptions, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
