After waiving offensive lineman Andrew Steuber on Monday, the New England Patriots had an open roster.

Later in the day, they filled that spot by signing rookie wide receiver David Wallis, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.

Wallis, 23, played collegiately for Division III's Randolph-Macon, where he was All-Conference three times.

The 5-foot-11 wideout recorded 146 receptions for 3,144 yards and 34 touchdowns as well as 127 rushing yards on 18 carries in his 42 games over five years at the school.

New England is having an open competition at a number of positions this offseason, and wide receiver appears to be one of the most open.
