While the New England Patriots didn't go out and spend a ton of money on free agents this offseason, they've done good work re-signing and extending some of their own players, including Christian Barmore, Mike Onwenu, David Andrews and Kyle Dugger.
Now, New England has locked up their running back, as they've agreed to a four-year extension worth $36 million and $17 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
This news shouldn't come as a surprise, as Stevenson said at mandatory minicamp that the two sides were close to a new deal.
However, this does buck a trend for the Patriots, as he becomes the first drafted lead back that the Patriots have given a second contract to since Robert Kraft bought the team in 1994 (James White and Kevin Faulk were re-signed, but they were primarily pass-catching backs.)
In his three seasons, Stevenson has rushed for 2,265 yards and 14 touchdowns on 4.5 yards per attempt while bringing in 121 passes for another 782 yards and one score.
