With the New England Patriots planning to sign undrafted rookie wide receiver JaQuae Jackson, the team had to make a corresponding move to create the roster spot.
Just hours later, New England announced that they've released wide receiver T.J. Luther and officially signed Jackson.
Luther, 24, played collegiately at Wofford and Gardner-Webb before joining the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent last year. He then spent most of his rookie season on the Patriots' practice squad.
New England's still has 12 wideouts on the roster, but they're looking for one or two of them to really separate themselves from the rest of the room.
