While the New England Patriots have wrapped up their organized team activities and mandatory minicamp sessions, that doesn't mean that the front office, coaching staff and players aren't still working to get better for the start of the 2024 campaign.
On Monday, New England made a roster move, releasing offensive lineman Ryan Johnson.
Johnson, 23, was signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent this year following a collegiate career that was split between Duquesne (2019-20) and Youngstown State (2021-23).
New England may not have their starting offensive line or backups situated yet, but they're moving on from a player who likely would've been fighting for a depth spot in training camp if he stayed around. This means they have an open roster spot and can fill it whenever they want, and there are a number of positions where they could use legitimate NFL talent.
