After the New England Patriots spent Monday and Tuesday trimming their roster from 90 players down to 53 by the NFL's deadline, they claimed four new players off of waivers on Wednesday afternoon.
To make room for the new bodies on the roster, New England had to make a series of moves, including releasing offensive lineman Michael Jordan and defensive lineman Trysten Hill.
Jordan, 26, was originally a fourth-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019 out of Ohio State. He also spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers before joining the Patriots this offseason. He's appeared in 55 games and started 29, and he got some run as a backup guard during preseason.
Hill, 26, was a second-round selection of the Dallas Cowboys in 2019 out of UCF. He also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns before signing with New England last October. He's appeared in 32 games in his career (one with the Patriots), recording 27 tackles (four for a loss), 11 quarterback hits and a half-sack. He was clearly the fifth guy in the defensive tackle group behind Christian Barmore, Davon Godchaux, Daniel Ekuale and Jeremiah Pharms Jr.
