The New England Patriots are gearing up for the start of training camp, but the team has made a move before they get to work on the practice fields.
New England announced on Monday that they've waived rookie linebacker Jontrey Hunter.
Hunter, 23, was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia State this year after recording 234 tackles and six sacks in 53 collegiate games.
The Patriots originally placed Hunter on the non-football injury list on Friday. He was expected to compete for a depth roster/practice squad spot.
