Thomas appeared in one game for the Patriots and caught seven passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the preseason.
However, he could find his way back to New England.
Another NFL Network report, which cited unidentified league sources, noted both parties have desire to work out a future deal.

He is still working his way back for a torn Achilles he suffered last season while playing for the Texans.
Now, the four-time Pro Bowl player has been moved by three teams in the last year. First, the Broncos traded Thomas to Houston in the middle of the season, then the Texans decided not to re-sign him and the Patriots have decided to part ways, as well.
The Patriots open their season Sept. 8 against the Steelers.
