ESPN says keep an eye on BYU tackle to Patriots in NFL draft image

With the 2024 NFL draft fast approaching, all 32 teams, including the New England Patriots have to be prepared to make decisions that could alter the direction of their franchise for years to come.

Patriots de facto general manager Eliot Wolf has the third overall pick in this year's selection process, meaning he'll have a chance to add one of this year's top quarterbacks to a roster that desperately needs one.

However, they do have another pick at No. 34. Where would they go with that selection?

ESPN's Jordan Reid seems to believe he knows what New England might do if they've already taken their franchise quarterback by then.

"If the Pats do go QB in the first round, I'd keep an eye on BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia at No. 34; the team has done a lot of homework on him," Reid said in a recent piece.

The 6-foot-6 tackle began his collegiate career at Oregon before transferring to BYU in 2022. He earned Second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2023.

New England had him in for a top-30 visit in the last few weeks, getting to know him even more intimately.

With only one tackle spot solidified for the upcoming year, adding someone with starting potential like Suamataia could be the smartest thing for the Patriots to do with their second selection.
