A four-game losing streak meets an eight-game losing streak as New England travels to MetLife Stadium on "Monday Night Football" in a battle of two AFC East rivals.

The Patriots (2-5) haven't won since September and are in unchartered waters under coach Bill Belichick. It's the first time since 2002 that the Patriots have lost four consecutive games. Since that time, there have been 284 four-game losing streaks in the NFL, and New England was the only team not to have had one. A lackluster offense led by Cam Newton has been the main issue. Newton and Patriots quarterbacks have combined for just three passing touchdowns this season, while by comparison, Tom Brady has thrown 20 on his new team in Tampa.

The Jets (0-8) are the lone winless team in the NFL and are all-in on the "tanking for Trevor [Lawrence]" mindset as New York is the favorite to land the top picks in next year's draft. It could be the final stretch for Sam Darnold in New York as the talented, young quarterback has struggled with injuries behind a ravaged offensive line and has thrown twice as many interceptions (6) as he has touchdowns (3). After shipping of Le'Veon Bell to Kansas City, there is no real recognizable talents on the Jets' offense with the ageless Frank Gore and Lamical Perine now leading the ground attack.

The Patriots have swept the Jets in four consecutive seasons and have not lost to New York since 2015. The teams play one final time in Week 17 to close out the season.
