2 days till Patriots season opener: Every player to wear No. 2 for New England image

The New England Patriots will open their 2024 campaign against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET, which is now two days away.

Until the opening kickoff of the season for the Patriots, we'll be counting down each day by looking back at those who have worn each specific jersey number.

Since 1960, 11 players have worn No. 2 in New England, and with three days until their first game of the year, here's a look at everyone who's worn the number for the team:

WR K.J. Osborn: Present

  • Signed with New England this offseason to be one of their top receivers
  • Also played for the Minnesota Vikings

DB Jalen Mills: 2021-23

  • Appeared in 43 games for New England over three seasons, recording 123 tackles (three for a loss), 13 passes defensed, two interceptions, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery
  • Also played for the Philadelphia Eagles (won a Super Bowl)

QB Brian Hoyer: 2017-20

  • Appeared in 30 games for New England over eight seasons, completing 66.3% of his passes for 729 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions
  • Won a Super Bowl with the Patriots
  • Also played for the Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders and San Francisco 49ers

K Nick Folk: 2019

  • Appeared in 57 games for New England over four seasons, making 89.3% of his field goals and 91.3% of his extra points
  • Also played for the Dallas Cowboys (made a Pro Bowl), New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans

K Kai Forbath: 2019

  • Appeared in one game for New England in one season, making his lone field goal attempt and one of his two extra points
  • Also played for the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints and Washington

K Mike Nugent: 2019

  • Appeared in four games for New England in one season, making five of his eight field goals and 15 of his 16 extra points
  • Also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers

QB Doug Flutie: 1987-89, 2005

  • Appeared in 22 games for New England over four seasons, completing 48.5% of his passes for 1,871 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions
  • Also played for the San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears
  • Won three Grey Cups and six CFL Most Oustanding Player awards

K Joaquin Zendejas: 1983

  • Appeared in two games for New England in one season, missing his lone field goal attempt and making three of his four extra points

K Dan Miller: 1982

  • Appeared in two games for New England in one season, making four of his eight field goals and all five of his extra points
  • Also played for the Baltimore Colts

P Mike Patrick: 1975-78

  • Appeared in 43 games for New England over four seasons, averaging 38.2 yards per punt

K/P Jeff White: 1973

  • Appeared in 11 games for New England in one season, making 56% of his field goals and 21 of his 25 extra points while averaging 27.2 yards per punt

P Pat Studstill: 1972

  • Appeared in 14 games for New England in one season, averaging 38.1 yards per punt
  • Also played for the Detroit Lions (made two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro) and Los Angeles Rams
