The New England Patriots may be off from the practice field, but they're still getting work done in the front office.
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots have signed linebacker Jahlani Tavai to a three-year extension. The deal is said to be worth $15 million with a maximum value of $21 million.
Tavai joined the Patriots in 2021 after spending the first his first two seasons with the Detroit Lions, the team that drafted him in the second round in 2019.
In his three seasons in New England, he's appeared in 47 games, recording 193 tackles (85 for a loss), eight quarterback hits, seven passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
With some changes to the defensive coaching this offseason, the Patriots are making sure that they have consistency in the middle of the unit.
