This offseason, the New England Patriots added three new quarterbacks to their roster - veteran Jacoby Brissett and rookies Drake Maye and Joe Milton III.
That trio and the lone returning quarterback, Bailey Zappe, entered organized team activities together, and they're set to start training camp now at Gillette Stadium.
Despite many clamoring for Maye, the team's first-round pick, to start, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo has made it clear that the team knows who their starter is.
"Coming out of the spring, I don't think there's any doubt, Jacoby is the starting quarterback at this point in time," Mayo said. "We can look at these other quarterbacks on the roster. At the same, it's about competition. So, when we get out on the field this summer, with the pads on, we'll see how it all plays out. Coming out of the spring, I think it's clear that Jacoby is the most pro-ready guy we have. He's played a lot of football."
Maye could surprise Mayo and the rest of the coaching staff in the coming weeks before the start of the regular season, but if everything stays the same, it will be Brissett under center against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 1.
